Herodotus:
He is called „ Father of History”; he was a traveller and writer. Born app. 484 BC
Scylax:
Discoverer and Sailor, he sailed from the river Indus to the northern part of the red sea, around 510 BC
Artemisia:
The first carian Queen, member of the council of war of Xerxes from Persia. She was leading her own legions in the War of Salamis, 480 BC.
Mausolus:
The reignor of Caria, enlarged Halikarnassus because he settled more and more people around the town. He built immense ramparts.
Artemisia II:
Wife and Sister of Mausolus. She conquered Rhodes with a stratagem.
Ada:
Queen of Caria, dispossessed by her brother and repossessed by Alexander the Great, who became her stepson later on.
Dionysius:
Historian, linguist and detractor. He wrote an essay of 20 books about the history of Rom.
Neyzen Tevfik:
Poet, satirist and flute player. His name became famous with his satirical essays and his way of life.
Turgut Reis:
In western history books he is also known as Dragut, commander of the Ottoman Empire. He lost his life in the Battle of Malta.
